Mission Statement & Purpose

To provide delicious takeout food, serving a unique Latino and Tex Mex cuisine. To provide an incredible eating experience for all occasions, for friends and family, and expand relationships along the way. To enhance community building, with sabor y gràcia (flavor and grace), by bringing tastes from various Latin American countries and the Caribbean right here to Shelton and its surrounding area.

History

Catano’s Cocina was inspired by answered prayers.  While being a patron of another successful business in the Huntington Plaza, Victor Catano prayed for that business to be blessed and asked God to one day bless him with his own gig. Shortly after checking out his order and driving away, Victor noticed a “for rent” sign from Hodson Realty, Inc. for a storefront at 3 Huntington Street, in Shelton, CT, which is in the same plaza.  Victor prayed over the vacant storefront and immediately contacted Stephen Hodson. A lease was agreed upon for the space one month later, with a goal to connect with the Shelton community through a delicious menu that that appeals to the hearts and stomachs of everyone.

Victor and his wife Lisa are partnered with two men of God, with recipes inspired by Victor's aunt, Tia Maria, a native of the Dominican Republic, with over 20 years of experience as a food service professional.  Pastor Ramaul Morgan is affiliated with a church in Westchester, and brings a strong background of business development and quality control. Last, but not least, Greg Denizard is a jack of all trades, with a diverse background that spans from non-profit management to the financial services industry, and incredible tech prowess. Together, this team is focused on delivering incredible food that comes with courteous and heartwarming service, packed with integrity.
